Lyca Radio adds new listeners in latest radio listening figures

London’s popular Asian radio station, Lyca Radio has increased its audience in official data released by RAJAR for Q1/22. Lyca Radio’s weekly reach went up from 73,000 in Q4/21 to 78,000 in Q1/22. Listeners are also tuning in longer with average listening hours up from 2.4 to 3.2 hours.

Lyca Radio has been under revamp since the appointment of Raj Baddhan as CEO of Lyca Media in 2021. He has repositioned the station making it the go-to place for recently released Bollywood and Bhangra hits. Lyca Radio’s next phase of tweaks will get underway this summer, which will further tighten the station’s schedule.

Meanwhile, Lyca Gold continues to lead with highest average hours per listener than any other UK Asian radio station. Its weekly listeners stood at 7.0 – slightly down from 8.2 in Q4/21. However, the station’s reach has shot up from 68,000 to 82,000 weekly reach figures.

Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Media said, “We are delighted with these figures, which shows more and more listeners are tuning into Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold. Over the past few months, we have been working closely on the sound of both stations and taking on feedback from listeners. Furthermore, we’ve enhanced our digital presence with a refreshing mobile app, website and inclusion of smart-speaker listening. The next six months are set to be even bigger and we want to thank all our well-wishers and listeners for always choosing Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold.”
