Aamir Khan & Rajkumar Hirani to reunite for Dadasaheb Phalke biopic

Aamir Khan is set to reunite with acclaimed director Rajkumar Hirani for a grand biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, widely regarded as the “Father of Indian Cinema.”

Having previously collaborated on ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘PK’, Khan and Hirani are now aiming for a theatrical release on 30th April 2027, aligning with Phalke’s 157th birth anniversary.

Though the project was only recently announced, pre-production is scheduled to commence in October, with principal photography slated to begin in December 2025.

A production source revealed, “The goal is to create a cinematic experience unlike any other—one that not only honours the life and legacy of Phalke but also celebrates the birth and evolution of Indian cinema.”
