Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa arrested in murder case

Famous Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, was arrested today in Mysore, India in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old man named Renuka Swamy.

Swamy, who was an employee of a pharmacy, had allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, the actor’s co-star and close friend. This is thought to be reason behind the actor taking the extreme step of allegedly plotting the murder of Swamy.

The lady in question is also in police custody now.

The police received an alert after residents reportedly noticed stray dogs dragging a body out of a drain, which was later identified as that of Swamy.

Further investigations of some suspects by the police eventually led to Darshan’s arrest.

The 47-year-old actor popularly nicknamed “Challenging Star” was arrested while he was on the location of a film shoot in Mysore.

The police is investigating whether the star was directly involved in the murder or was a part of the conspiracy that resulted in Swamy’s death.

Darshan’s sudden arrest has sent shockwaves in not just Kannada but the entire Indian entertainment industries.

While Darshan’s fans are distraught due to the alarming incident, the actor is not new to controversies though.

He has previously spent time in jail over allegations of domestic abuse by his wife.
