Box Office: ‘Sooryavanshi’ opens up with Rs. 26 crore on first day

Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s much awaited ‘Sooryavanshi’ ignited the box office on its opening day, according to official figures.

The cop-thriller helmed by Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar, collected Rs. 26.29 crore (India only) on Friday. The numbers reported have been described as “excellent” despite 50% occupancy in the Maharashtra market. Saturday’s advance bookings are said to good too.

‘Sooryavanshi’ is the first major Bollywood release since cinemas opened up in India.
