Yash Raj Films confirm third part to Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani’

Yash Raj Films is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its acclaimed crime-thriller franchise, ‘Mardaani’. To mark the occasion, the studio has released a special promotional video reflecting on the franchise’s impact and legacy. The video also reveals that ‘Mardaani 3’ is officially in the works.

Launched in 2014, ‘Mardaani’ introduced Rani Mukerji as Shivani Shivaji Roy, a tough Mumbai Crime Branch officer. The film was praised for its gritty portrayal of child trafficking and Mukerji’s powerful performance. The success of the first film led to Mardaani 2 in 2019, where Mukerji reprised her role to take on a serial rapist, further cementing the franchise’s reputation for addressing serious social issues through compelling storytelling.

The tenth-anniversary video revisits key moments from both films, highlighting the franchise’s role in promoting strong female characters in Indian cinema and sparking conversations about crimes against women. The announcement of ‘Mardaani 3′ has already generated excitement, with Mukerji expected to return as Shivani Shivaji Roy. Although details remain under wraps, the third installment is anticipated to tackle another significant social issue, continuing the series’ tradition of combining thrilling narratives with impactful messages.
