Shah Rukh Khan is set to return to the UAE, this time as the host of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, which will be held on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The ‘Raees’ actor has had a longstanding association with the IIFA Awards, playing various roles since the event’s inception in 2000.
Over the years, Khan has not only hosted but also performed and won awards on the IIFA stage, solidifying his place as one of the most iconic figures in Indian cinema. His connection with the event is deep-rooted; in 2017, during the IIFA Awards in New York, he was honored with a special tribute celebrating his 25 years in the industry.
In a press note shared ahead of this year’s event, the organisers praised Khan’s enduring impact on the IIFA Awards. “Throughout the years, the ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’ has transcended mere participation in the IIFA Awards, emerging as one of its most iconic pillars. His contributions have been instrumental in transforming IIFA into a global spectacle that celebrates Indian cinema. His legacy at IIFA is marked by extraordinary performances, unforgettable speeches, and an enduring presence that has elevated the event to unparalleled heights.”
