Salman Khan has issued a legal notice to news agency ANI (Asian Network International) after a news article linked him to underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company.
The notice, sent through the law firm DSK Legal, demands an apology for the “false and baseless” claims made in the article, which Khan argues were defamatory and aimed at damaging his reputation.
The news article, published by ANI on its website and distributed to other media outlets, included an interview with advocate Amit Mishra. Mishra represents Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who are accused in the firing incident outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area. In the article, Mishra allegedly made connections between Khan and D-Company, a claim that Khan has strongly denied.
Khan’s legal team stated in the notice: “Our client (Khan) denies all the allegations made by Mishra against him in the Impugned Article, and our client states that the allegations therein are absolutely false, baseless, malicious, grossly defamatory/derogatory, misleading, damaging, and are made with an intent to malign the image and goodwill of our client.”
The notice further asserts that Khan is a victim of the criminal act committed outside his residence and has no connection with the accused individuals. It describes the allegations as a “tactic to gather sympathy from the public” and deflect attention from the case at hand. The article, according to the notice, was designed to harm Khan’s moral and intellectual character and bring him into public ridicule.
Khan’s team has demanded a full retraction of the article and an apology from ANI for publishing misleading information, emphasising the serious damage it has caused to the actor’s public image.
