Manish Malhotra’s Meena Kumari biopic shelved?

Manish Malhotra’s ambitious biopic on legendary actor Meena Kumari has reportedly been shelved.

During the premiere of his debut production, ‘Saali Mohabbat’, at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Malhotra addressed his evolving journey in filmmaking.

“I am not directing the Meena Kumari biopic, but I will make something else soon,” he shared. “I have been deeply influenced by Yash ji [Yash Chopra] and hope to direct romantic films someday.”

The biopic, initially set to feature Kriti Sanon as Meena Kumari, faced significant challenges. Kumari’s stepson had expressed his disapproval of the project and hinted at potential legal action, which reportedly contributed to the film being shelved.
