Madhuri Dixit opens up about rivalry with Sridevi in the 90s

Madhuri Dixit has addressed long-standing reports of rivalry with Sridevi during the 1990s, reflecting on their dynamic and shared admiration for one another.

Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, the media often compared the two actresses, portraying them as competitors. However, Madhuri recently shared her thoughts, expressing deep respect for Sridevi and revealing that they had limited opportunities to connect despite their simultaneous success.

The two were initially set to co-star in Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Zameen’ (1987). However, the film was shelved, and they never shared screen space. Reflecting on Sridevi, Madhuri said, “We both had a lot of respect and admiration for each other. I respected her as an actor; she worked across multiple languages and achieved immense success in all of them. She was also very sweet to me.”

Madhuri later appeared in ‘Pukaar’ (2000), a film produced by Sridevi and Boney Kapoor. Despite this indirect collaboration, their interactions remained minimal. “We didn’t really get to talk much,” Madhuri added, emphasising the mutual respect that defined their relationship.
