Kareena Kapoor Khan is no longer in contention for the role of Sita in ‘Ramayan’.
Veteran writer KV Vijayendra Prasad said that a name for the important role will be announced soon. He was cited in SpotBoye saying, “We have not yet finalised who will play Sitamaa’s character. We will shortly announce a name.”
Earlier, rumours were rife about Khan being offered the role of Sita in the adaptation written by Prasad and directed by Alaukik Desai. There was severe backlash from online users. There were also claims that Khan may not do the film because producers cannot afford her Rs. 12 crore fee.
Apparently, the role will be offered to a new face. A source told the publication, “When Deepika Chikhlia played Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s serial Ramayan, the audiences were not familiar with her face. They willingly accepted her as Sita.”
