Deepika Padukone opens up about sleep deprivation and burnout on World Mental Health Day

Deepika Padukone recently opened up about her struggles with sleep deprivation and burnout in an interview that coincided with World Mental Health Day.

The actress, who recently became a mother, shared her experiences during a conversation with entrepreneur Ariana Huffington at an event organised by the Live Love Laugh Foundation for World Mental Health Day 2024.

Clips from their discussion have been widely circulated on social media platforms and YouTube by outlets such as Quint and The Print. In the video, Huffington discusses the impact of burnout, while Padukone reflects on her personal journey through it.

Padukone candidly shared, “When you are sleep-deprived or burnt out, the decisions that you make…I can actually feel it. I know on particular days when I am feeling stressed or burnt out because I haven’t slept enough or practiced my self-care rituals…I can tell that my decision-making is getting affected to some extent.”

She added, “It’s absolutely normal and human to feel pain, anger, and some of these extreme emotions. The larger picture is how you deal with that criticism and use it positively to work on yourself. You will have to put in the work and be patient.”
