Akshay Kumar signs remake of Nana Patekar’s ‘Tirangaa’?

Akshay Kumar is reportedly set to take on the lead role in the remake of the 1993 blockbuster ‘Tirangaa’, which originally starred Nana Patekar. The remake is being produced by Narendra Hirawat of NH Studioz, a key player in acquiring rights to classic films.

According to sources, Hirawat secured the rights to ‘Tirangaa’ and believes the film’s patriotic theme remains highly relevant to today’s audience. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Narendra Hirawat holds the rights to ‘Tirangaa’. They’ve decided to remake it because they believe the subject remains relevant and appealing to audiences. With the rights secured, they’re keen to bring the film back to the big screen.”

However, the remake faces a potential hurdle regarding its title. Mehul Kumar, the original producer and director of the 1993 film, still holds the title rights. This situation may result in the remake being released under a different name. When approached for comment, Mehul Kumar confirmed, “Yes, I have the title rights. I have even registered another title called ‘Mission Tirangaa’. But the film rights are with Narendra Hirawat.”
