Lyca Radio named exclusive radio partner of Vaisakhi In Trafalgar Square

London’s popular Asian radio station, Lyca Radio has been confirmed as the exclusive radio partner of the flagship Vaisakhi event, Vaisakhi In Trafalgar Square.

Vaisakhi in Trafalgar Square 2022 will take place on Saturday 16th April, from 13:00 – 18:00. Lyca Radio will be broadcasting from the event live over the five-hours.

Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Media said, “Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold are based in London for all Asian communities residing in London. We are thrilled to be joining hands with the Mayor of London on this flagship and very significant event for the Sikh community. We are pulling out all the stops to ensure we bring our listeners the action from the Square live on-air with a special broadcast on the day between 1pm and 6pm.”

The fun starts with a 10-piece marching band performing the Sikh anthem ‘Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Hai’. Attendees can also also enjoy free light bites and Indian tea (langar). Food demonstrations from head chef Manpreet Singh will also take place.

There’ll be performances of the Indian martial art of Gatka too. Associated with the Sikhs of the Punjab region, this energetic style of fighting uses wooden sticks to simulate swords.

Meanwhile the big screen will show special kirtan performances from Qi-Rattan and Manika Kaur. There’ll also be celebratory messages from Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi MP for Slough and Karenjeet Bains, the first Sikh woman to compete for Great Britain in powerlifting. Finally, don’t miss the collection of short films, in partnership with the India Film Festival, from 17:00 – 18:00.
