Jayalalithaa biopic: Vidya Balan was replaced by Kangana Ranaut because of THIS reason
Tamil filmmaker AL Vijay has taken upon himself the responsibility of making a biopic on legendary actress and strong politician J Jayalalithaa titled Thalaivi and has cast Bollywood actress Kanchana Ranaut in the titular role. The pre-production work of the film is underway at the moment and shooting of the film will soon begin. While that stays that way, an interesting piece of news about the film has made way to the internet which has left movie buffs in shock. According to emerging reports, Kangana Ranaut was not the initial choice for the role but the makers had approached Vidya Balan. Reportedly, Vidya Balan had too many questions for the makers of the film regarding the character which left them in no-mans land. Reports reveal that the makers were not in a situation to retort to the questions thrown by Vidya Balan and hence, had to let her go off the project. And post this development, director AL Vijay and the producers decided to approach Kangana Ranaut for the role and the actress agreed to be part of the project.
It is also being speculated that Kangana is being paid a bomb for Jayalalithaa biopic and probably is the highest for any actress in Indian cinema in the present scenario. Besides Vidya Balan's perspective, social media is abuzz about the pay check of Kangana for Jayalalithaa biopic, surprisingly.
Speaking about the film, director AL Vijay said that it is justifying that a star like Kangana Ranaut is playing the titular role in the film. "I think a leader of Jayalalithaa's stature cannot be limited to one region. She is a national leader, and commands huge respect. This is a pan India film, and Kangna is apt for the role. She is one of the biggest stars in India today and I think it is right that a top star plays the role of an important politician. We consider this a pan-Indian film, not a regional one. There was a lot of discussion before the decision was made to cast Kangna; we met several people as well. She is extremely excited about the project and wants to portray her with utmost honesty. She is learning Tamil for the film and will also be part of a one-month workshop to get into the character,"
